Are ghost hunters and historians able to coexist? Can stories from the past include a belief in the sprirt world? Here at Lightner Farmhouse we believe that the two are simply opposite sides of the same coin and that history is learned and preserved both through artifiacts and through stories. Read our written history of the Farm, walk the house and grounds to get a "feel" for the property and listen to Eileen as she tells you both the history and the folklore of our site and of the town. Because the farm was used as a Civil War hospital for three weeks in July, 1863, Eileen's stories tell about a farm family who experienced the full horrors of war.
When you visit the Lightner Farmhouse, schedule a tour with Ghost storyteller, Miss Betty who is shown below, and who will take you on a private Haunted Tour showing you a few of the local sites followed by a storytelling session at the haunted Sachs Mill Bridge. She portrays a Southern widow looking for her lost husband years after the Battle of Gettysburg and her stories give insight into the suffering of the families following the war.
