History Programs at the Lightner Farmhouse

Beginning May 7, 2014 complimentary history programs for our guests will be offered on Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 8 AM prior to breakfast service. On Wednesday mornings Innkeeper Eileen will talk about the impact of the Battle of Gettysburg on the Lightner family and the surrounding area. On Saturday mornings historian Lisa Shower will talk about the care of the wounded and the civilian experience.

On Wednesday evenings from 7-8 PM Betty Roche of the Gettysburg Paranormal Society will offer a complimentary discussion for those interested in experiencing paranormal phenomenon. She then is available for a 2 hour investigation any night of the week with prior reservation.

Eileen has a master’s degree in American History and has a passionate interest in the social history of the Gettysburg area during the time of the battle. She is happy to talk history to guests each day.

During summer months we suggest you consider a Wednesday evening “Walking Church Tour’ that takes visitors to four of the town churches that served as hospitals. On Saturday evening the historic Christ Lutheran Church sponsors a program of “Songs and Stories from a Civil War Hospital”. Both programs are recommended by Lightner Farmhouse.
